GREEN GRAM CURRY

Ingredients:
Green gram- 1 cup(soaked overnight)
Ginger garlic paste- 1 tsp
Onion-1 (thinly sliced)
Tomato-1 (thinly sliced)
Green chillies-1 slit
Chilli powder-1 tsp
Coriander powder-2 tsp
Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
Garam masala-1/2 tsp
Coriander leaves-to garnish
Salt- to taste
Oil-1tbsp
Cumin seeds-1 tsp
Curry leaves-1 stick

Method:
1.Drain the soaked green gram water and pressure cook for 1 whistle with a cup of water,strain the water and keep it aside.
2.In a kadai,add oil and add cumin seeds,curry leaves and green chillies and saute.
3.Once it splutters,add onion and saute till golden brown.


4.Add ginger garlic paste and saute till raw smell goes off.
5.Add sliced tomatoes and let it cook till soft.
6.Now add all the powder listed above along with salt.


7.Cook till the raw smell goes and masalas are well combined.
8.Add the cooked green gram and mix well.
9.Add half a cup of water to it and mix till well combined.


10.Add coriander leaves and let it boil.
11.Green gram curry is simple yet tasty and healthy.
12.Serve with idiyappam, hot rice,chapathi,dosa and many more.
 

Note:
•Remove the whistle weight from the cooker soon after the whistle is down.
•Leaving it unopened for a long time may make the green gram too soft and mushy which spoils the taste of the curry.
•You can even cook the green gram in a open  vessel, but it may be time consuming.

NAATU KOZHI SOUP(COUNTRY CHICKEN SOUP)

                         NAATU KOZHI SOUP

Ingredients:
Naatu kozhi/Country chicken-200gms
(washed with turmeric powder)
Small onion/shallots-150 gms
Tomato(big)-1
Ginger-1 inch
Garlic-5-6 pods
Cumin seeds -3tsp
Pepper corns-10-15
Fenugreek seeds-1/2 tsp
Curry leaves- 2 sticks
Coriander leaves-to garnish
Salt-to taste
Sesame oil- 3 tbsp

Method:
1.In a kadai,add 2 tbsp oil and saute shallots for 2-3 mins.
2.Add ginger and garlic roughy chopped and add 2 tsp cumin seeds and pepper corns.
            

            

3.Then add tomato,salt and curry leaves and saute for 3-4 mins.
4.Keep it aside and let it cool.


5.Grind this mixture to a fine puree.
6.In a pressure cooker ,add 1 tbsp of oil and add 1 tsp of cumin seeds and fenugreek seeds.
7.Saute for few seconds and add washed chicken into it.


8.Add turmeric powder and salt and saute.
9.Add the ground paste and let this boil for 1-2 mins.


10.Add 2-3 cups of water and stir well.
11.Add curry leaves into it and let it pressure cook for 5-7whistles or until the chicken is cooked well.


12.Check for salt and spiciness.
13.Add pepper powder and coriander leaves.

14.Hot soup if perfect for winter and good remedy for cold.
15.Enjoy the hot soup with all its benefits.

CHICKEN PATTIES

CHICKEN PATTIES
Ingredients:
Minced chicken-250gms
Green chillies-2 (finely chopped)
Celery(optional)-1-2 stick
Garlic-4-5 pods
Onion -1(cut into small cubes)
Oil-for shallow frying
Salt-to taste
Coriander leaves-to taste

Method:
1.Wash the minced chicken and strain the water.
2.In a mixie,add celery and garlic and grind it to a coarse mixture.

3.Add the strained chicken to a bowl and add the ground mixture,onion,salt,coriander leaves and mix well.



 4.In a tawa,add oil for shallow frying and make patties shapes and place it .
5.Fry both the sides until both the sides are cooked well and becomes golden brown.

 6.Transfer to a plate and serve hot with ketchup,dip or any salad.

EASY CHOCOLATE CAKE

EASY CHOCOLATE CAKE 
(NO EGG BEATER,JUST WHISK) 

Ingredients:
All purpose flour/Maida-1 3/4 cup
Sugar-2 cups
Salt-1/2 tsp
Egg-2 (large)
Baking powder-1 1/2 tsp
Baking soda-1 1/2 tsp
Instant Coffee powder-1 tsp
Cocoa powder-3/4 cup
Milk-1/2 cup
Warm water-1/2 cup
Vanilla/Chocolate essence-2tsp
Oil(any flavorless)-1/2 cup

Method:
       Preheat the oven @350°F
1.Measure all the dry ingredients.
2.Sieve all purpose flour/ maida,baking soda, baking powder,cocoa powder.keep aside.


3.In a bowl,add sugar,salt,instant coffee powder ,warm water,milk,vanilla/Chocolate essence and blend well.
4.Beat the eggs in a whisk for 2-3 mins.
5.Add the beaten eggs to the sugar mixture.

6.Now add oil and the dry flour mixture .
7.Add the wet ingredients to the dry mixture little by little and blend with a whisk without any lumps.



8.Grease a baking tray with butter or dust it with flour or add a parchment paper.
9.Pour the batter to the tray and tap it twice for the batter to settle well.


10.Bake in the oven @350°F for 30 - 40 mins,or until a toothpick/knife inserted into the centre of the cake comes out clean.
11.Let it cool and come to room temperature.
12.Run a knife through the edges and turn it upside down.
13.Remove the parchment paper.Flip it over.
 
         
14.Delicious chocolate cake is ready to be frosted, or served as a tea time cake.
               

Note:
•This batter is quite thin compared to the other cake batters.
               
•Add any oil ,other than olive oil or any high flavoured oil,as the smell may destroy the taste of the cake.
•This cake is good to be served just with a dust of powdered sugar.
•This cake batter works well for making  black forest cakes too.
