Ingredients:
For Marinating Fish:
Chilli powder-2 tsp.
Turmeric Powder-1 tsp.
Salt- to taste
Ginger garlic paste-1 tbsp.
Curry leaves.
For Onion Tomato Masala:
Onion- 1 (cut into medium cubes)
Tomato-1 (cut into medium cubes)
Green Chilli -2 (thin slit)
Chilli powder-2 tsp.
Turmeric Powder-1 tsp.
Coriander powder-1 tsp.
Cumin powder-1 tsp.
Pepper powder-1 tsp.
Coconut oil-3-4 tbsp.
Salt-to taste
Curry leaves
Banana leaf- for packing
Tooth picks- for sealing the pack.
Method:
1.Wash the fish and make cuts here and there.
2.Make sure it is dry without any water.
3.Marinate the fish with the marinating ingredients.
4.Set aside for 1 hour.
Onion Tomato Masala๐ง ๐ ๐:
5.Meanwhile,the onion masala can be prepared.
6.In a kadai,add oil and add the cut onion and fry till it is translucent.
7.Add the spices in (onion tomato masala items) and saute well.
8.Add chillies and curry leaves and blend.
9.Add the cut tomato and cook everything together until it is soft.
10.Do not cook till it becomes a curry or a paste.(onion and tomato should be visible)
11.Cook till the raw smell goes off.
12.Now the onion tomato masala is ready.Keep it aside.
13.In a wide frying pan,add oil and place the marinated fish and shallow fry for 3-4 minutes on both the sides.
14.Clean and cut the banana leaves in a medium size rectangle shapes.
15.Heat them on top of the stove on both sides for a minute. (This prevents the leaf from tearing while packing)
Packing the fish:
16.Place the banana leaf in a plate.
17.Add 2 -3 table spoons of masala on the banana leaf and spread it flat.
18.Place the fried fish on the masala and apply some more masala on top of the fish.
19.Cover the fish with banana leaf and tie it with a banana leaf strings or seal it using a tooth pick.
21.Remove from the pan,open the pack and squeeze in some lemon juice.
